Forward Thinking

“I work with young couples trying to buy their first home, with investors, business people looking to locate in Niagara Falls. In short, I see people from all walks of life.

I believe we are a great city with a bright future.  In my experience it is the small business person, the homeowner and the average citizen doing their part to settle here, provide jobs and work here that move Niagara Falls forward.

Tourism is great for business, Niagara Falls is one of the seven wonders of the world, and here on the US side, we have some unique vantage points for seeing the Falls.

We have clean air, walking trails and we are a family oriented city.  NIagara Falls, NY is an up and coming place, there are still opportunities here.

Candace is pictured here with the two Mrs. Singhs, mother and daughter-in-law who make homemade Indian food at their family’s restaurant in Niagara Falls, NY called the Maharaja.

“It is small businesses like these that make up the distinct out of the box character of Niagara Falls,” says Candace. After people see the falls, enjoy attractions, walk the walks, they get hungry… Niagara Falls has many fine family run restaurants and eateries tucked away within the city.”

According to reviews the Maharaja, located in a quaint Victorian style home a few steps away from the Casino is the best place to enjoy Indian food in Niagara Falls. It is homey inside, like visiting your Indian grandmother’s house, with American style diner tables. They do have a home-style buffet and you can also order a-la-carte. Everything is freshly made that day in the buffet, no frozen and re-heated foods. The a-la-carte menu is made fresh to order, so give it a little extra time, it is well worth the wait.

“I always order the fish dish when I go, says Candace, Mrs. Singh makes it especially for me, lightly seasoned with turmeric and spices, the white fish perfectly cooked… it is melt in your mouth soft and luscious!”

Many people travelling from India to see the Falls eat here, it is fresh and tastes like home. Mr. Singh says, “We have been blending spices for generations, they are good for the digestion.”

If you are not used to highly spiced foods, though, you can order a small dish of their homemade yogurt to eat along with the dish, it helps take the heat away. Afterwards, your tummy feels pleasantly warm, a comfort food experience.

In season, the Maharajah stays open late and is usually packed. A family business, everyone pitches in during the tourist season. Plan to come to Maharajas, sit and enjoy awhile and be welcomed by one of the Singh family.
